Op.44 - 2 poèmes

Two contrasting and very short poems follow the same calm-agitated scheme as Op.32:
No.1 - Lento
No.2 - Moderato
The theme of the first piece begins with the same intervals as the Sonata No.4, two fourths, slowly building up the system of quartal harmonies that will direct Scriabin’s late production. The whole-tone colors are impressionistic and recall the Preludes of Debussy. The second, more mocking, is almost like a Spanish piece for guitar, full of modernism.
