Op.7 - Two Impromptus Ă  la Mazur

The Mazurka at Mabille's, Eugène Charles François Guérard (1844)
The Mazurka at Mabille's, Eugène Charles François Guérard (1844)

Subtle combination of slow dance and melodic arabesques :

No.1 in G♯ minor
No.2 in F♯ major

By their nonchalant and enchanting characters, they are both reminiscent of Gabriel Fauré’s writing style for the piano. The first could also be associated to Grieg’s melodies, while the second with its lyrical chromaticism is especially Scriabin-esque, enhanced by his favorite key of F# major always full of poetry.
