Written for horn and piano—not to be confused with the Romance WoO 2 for voice. This is Scriabin’s only known piece for a solo instrument accompanied by another; from this point on, his compositional output would focus exclusively on solo piano and orchestral works.

The music is soft and comforting, employing the horn not as a forceful or heroic voice, but as a gentle and resonant melodic instrument.
