Op.15 - 5 Preludes

Failing to complete a second book of 24 preludes, Scriabin began organizing his later works into sets of 7, 6, 5 or 4 pieces.
Failing to complete a second book of 24 preludes, Scriabin began organizing his later works into sets of 7, 6, 5 or 4 pieces.

Set of preludes arranged in five pieces :

No.1 : Andante (A major)
No.2 : Vivo (F♯ minor)

No.3 : Allegro assai (E major)

No.4 : Andantino (E major)

No.5 : Andante (C♯ minor)

Stylistically in continuity with Chopin, the set opens - as often in Scriabin’s preludes - with a charming and calm piece.

The third prelude, composed entirely of broad arpeggios in luminous colors, evokes a moonlit landscape, an effect also used in Schubert’s Lieder and Debussy’s mélodies.
