Op.18 - Allegro de concert in B♭ minor

An orchestral, grandiloquent and despairing piece. The second Allegro for piano after the first op.4, both a kind of primary studies pointing toward the Fantaisie op.28 which constitutes Scriabin’s last piece from his purely romantic period. Virtuosity, while serving the musicality, conveys a rather showy aspect in this particular work.
De climax, full of chromatic lines, powerful basses, and repeated chords, echoes Chopin’s finales, especially those of his Fourth ballade.
