Op.5 - 2 Nocturnes

“Paradis Nocturne” by Ludovic Alleaume (1880)
“Paradis Nocturne” by Ludovic Alleaume (1880)

Two flowly pieces :

No.1 - Andante (F♯ minor)
No.2 - Allegretto (A major)

Nocturnes remain a relatively unexplored genre in Scriabin’s oeuvre, despite his deep connection to the legacy of Chopin . Although these two pieces bear the title Nocturne, they aren’t stylistically written as such. Rather, they resemble Impromptus or even Poems, which will be confirmed in Scriabin architecture of the Poem-Nocturne Op.61.

The first is gently melancholic, while the nonchalant grace of the second echoes Gabriel Fauré.
