WoO 24 - Symphonic Allegro, Poeme Symphonique in D minor.

Composed as the first Allegro movement of a symphony, though the work was never completed. Scriabin’s first full symphony would follow only four years later (First Symphony Op.26, 1900).
It was later completed by Alexander Gauk (Russian composer and conductor) and published posthumously under the title “Symphonic Poem in D minor.”
Excluding the Fantasy WoO 18, for which no orchestral fragments have been found, this is Scriabin’s first known attempt at orchestral writing. The style is traditional, full of Romantic textures, and does not yet hint at the mystic colors of his later works. Some melodic ideas were later reused in his Third Symphony, Op.43.
