A Nocturne is meant to reflect the calm feeling of a night time walk, a genre invented at the piano by John Field.

This gentle piece with a calm and flowing pace is reminiscent of a barcarolle. It is Scriabin’s first attempt at the Nocturne genre, one of Chopin’s favorites. Without particular virtuosity, it stands out as an especially peaceful peace in his output. The form is a rondeau.

It was discovered in the estate of Nikolai Zverev, his first piano teacher in the military school of cadets in Moscow.
